Antioxidants! Healthy fats! Greens! Fiber!

The gang is ALL here with this gem-colored smoothie and it’s going to rock your world in the sense that it’s a smoothie that ACTUALLY keeps you full.

There are few smoothies that keep me full – usually I go between my keto peanut butter low carb smoothie and the banana cashew flax seed smoothie, because they have ALL the healthy fats to keep my stomach happy.

But only having two options is, well, not very many options.

This deliciously filling and healthy smoothie is coming to your mouth today.

Why you will LOVE This Smoothie

When I’m in the mood for a snack, I often pull out the blender and fix myself a healthy smoothie because they’re DELISH and can really hit the spot in the mornings or as a snack in between meals. I love me a cool and icy healthy strawberry watermelon smoothie and WILL NOT say no to a banana vanilla orange smoothie because HELLO YUM. Today’s blueberry and spinach smoothie is loaded with flavor, protein, and healthy fats to keep your body nourished and full until your next meal, and it’s SO tasty too- the whole family is going to love it!

Health Benefits

Spinach: Spinach is such a great ingredient to add to your smoothies and shakes because it has a mild taste, but SO many nutrients to benefit your body! Spinach is an EXCELLENT source of calcium magnesium and iron and is rich in vitamins A, B6 and C as well. It can aid in digestion as well as help boost your immune system, so spinach is always a good idea! Blending up a spinach smoothie blueberry is a good way to add it to your diet!

Blueberries: Another superfood featured in this smoothie is blueberries! Blueberries, although very low in calories, are SUPER high in nutrients. They boast being high in fiber, manganese, and vitamins C and K as well as being one of fruits containing the highest amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants help guard our cells from free radicals and help our bodies fight against disease and illness.

Is it Ok to Drink a Blueberry Spinach Smoothie Everyday?

While commercial smoothies contain a lot of sugar which can lead to unhealthy weight and diabetes, this  homemade blueberry and spinach smoothie is healthy. It doesn’t have unnecessary sugar added and is made from all-natural ingredients. Spinach provides protein, iron, vitamins, and minerals that promote blood glucose control, improve bone health, and lower the risk of cancer. Blueberries contain high levels of antioxidants and vitamins. These berries promote skin health, bone strength, and help manage diabetes.

Can you make your Smoothie ahead of time?

Yes, you can! If you know you won’t have time to prepare anything during the morning, you can make your smoothie in advance and store them in the fridge overnight, and will be good to drink when you wake up. It will be good for 48 hours but it is recommended drinking it within 24 hours to keep optimal taste and  nutrition.

Blueberry Spinach Smoothie FAQ

How do you make Smoothies more filling?

Smoothies and shakes can be a GREAT on-the-go breakfast and snack, but some of them don’t fill us up and keep those hunger pangs at bay. If you want a smoothie to fill you up and keep you full, adding healthy fats will do the trick. In this recipe, I added avocado and it makes all the difference!

Can you taste Spinach in smoothies?

Adding spinach to your shakes and smoothies is a great way to add those nutrients into your food in a more discrete way, because the taste is very mild! In a smoothie, when you add a handful or two of spinach, the taste will likely be overpowered by the fruits you add!

Are Smoothies good for weight loss?

Smoothies can be great for weight loss if you add healthy fats. If you are replacing a meal with a smoothie, make sure it has enough to keep you full and meet your body’s needs. The avocado in this smoothie is a great way to make sure it’s enough!
