One could argue that it’s not actually a party unless there is Buffalo chicken dip. Reasonably people can disagree with that, but it’s hard to deny that this is one of the all-time great party foods. It’s essentially a casserole that was made for dipping chips, vegetables, or anything else you want. With a serving of ranch dressing, which we know blends perfectly with Buffalo chicken, this dip is even better than ordinary Buffalo chicken dip.

With some ranch dressing, not to mention sour cream and cream cheese, this dip is both spicy and creamy. It comes out hot but not too hot. After all, you don’t want to overpower the taste of the chicken or the melted cheese on top. With so many amazing flavors coming at you all at once, this dip is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser. Don’t even think about hosting a party without a dish of Buffalo ranch chicken dip.

Is Buffalo Ranch Chicken Dip Healthy?

Buffalo ranch chicken dip does have some drawbacks from a health perspective, so it’s not necessarily something for people of all diets. It has 330 calories per serving, as well as a high amount of fat, saturated fat, and sodium. If you can, use low-fat cheese or low-fat cream cheese; doing so can help reduce the calorie count a little. On the bright side, the chicken in this dip is a good source of protein. This dish also has a healthy amount of vitamin A and calcium, so there are some positives from a nutritional standpoint.

Any Kind of Chicken…

One of the benefits of this recipe is that it’s viable with any kind of chicken. You can cook chicken breast or tenders specifically for this dip. But you can also get a rotisserie chicken or use leftover chicken. As long as the chicken is fully cooked and shredded into small, edible pieces that won’t need to be cut any smaller once they’re in the dip, you’ll be in good shape.

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Preheat

Prepare oven and dish.

Combine

Mix dip ingredients.

Assemble

Layer in a baking dish and top with cheese.

Bake

Cook until bubbly.

Garnish

Add green onions and serve.

How to Make Ahead and Store?

To prep in advance, it’s possible to combine all of the ingredients together and pour them into the baking dish but not put the dish in the oven. Instead, keep it in the refrigerator and bake when it’s almost time to serve the dip. Meanwhile, if there are leftovers, make sure to cover them with saran wrap and store in the fridge for up to 3 or 4 days.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup Buffalo wing sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, cream cheese, Buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, and sour cream until well combined.
