  • Chicken Wing Dip

If you don’t already know, my love for Buffalo chicken wings runs deep. I’ve never met a wing or Buffalo-flavored anything that I didn’t like. Aside from exploring wing menus, and writing about them in my diary, I have expressed my love for them in this sweet Honey BBQ Wings recipe and this one for these perfect Air Fryer Buffalo Wings. So, you can absolutely trust my opinion and recipe for this chicken wing dip.

Ok, I know I just expressed my love for wings, which is true, but there are certain aspects of enjoying them that I don’t love – like, I don’t like looking at bones and piling them to the side. I can’t wear white when I am eating wings and I also recognize that I may look a bit savage when I order more… The great thing about chicken wing dip is it has all the flavor we love from wings, but none of the bones and not nearly as messy! You have the perfect kick from the hot sauce covering tender chicken, cheesy goodness from the cream cheese, and the refreshing ranch mixed into each bite.

Aside from being delicious, this starter is so easy to throw together. Mix it, toss it into a dish, bake it, and boom – deliciousness. It is also great that you can adjust the flavor and intensity of the spice depending on which hot sauce you use. It goes great with crisp veggies, chips, or even slider buns, so you can choose your adventure and amount of carbs.

Is Chicken Wing Dip Healthy?

This chicken wing dip has a ton of protein, about 14 grams per serving. It also skips the fryer, unlike traditional wings, which are usually deep-fried and then coated in sauce. Sure it has a lot of cheese, but that’s just calcium. Chicken wing dip is also a perfect low-carb and keto snack. Most ranch dressings are keto-friendly, however, if you are on a strict keto regimen be sure to check the label.

Buffalo Vs Hot Pepper Sauce

This tasty chicken wing dip is also appealing since we use hot pepper sauce instead of Buffalo sauce. While I have been raving about Buffalo-everything, the real flavor comes from the hot sauce. Normally, Buffalo sauce is mixed with butter, usually half and half, to give it that extra richness, tone down the spice, and give it a smooth saucy texture. Since we are already mixing our hot pepper sauce with ranch and cream cheese, no need for all that butter. If you only have Buffalo sauce, you can use it in this recipe. It will have more calories and won’t be as spicy, but it will be just fine.

INGREDIENTS

Chicken Wing Dip

FAQs & Tips

How to Make Ahead and Store

To make ahead and store leftover chicken wing dip, place it in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can reheat it in the microwave or pop it back in the oven.

How DO you prepare the chicken for this dip?

The easiest way to prepare this recipe is to poach the chicken, and then shred it using a stand or hand mixer. This method is easier than using forks, but that works too!

How can I adjust the heat level in chicken wing dip?

The hot pepper sauce you use will determine the level of heat your dip will have. Use mild if you want less spice and hot for more. This recipe calls for a half cup, but you can start with a quarter and add from there. You can also use Buffalo sauce to bring down the heat that hits your mouth.

Serving Suggestions

Classically we enjoy Buffalo wings with carrots and celery, so why would this be any different? Set out your crudité next to crunchy Keto Tortilla Chips, out-of-this-world Candied Bacon Crackers, or toasty Homemade Ritz Crackers. As with any spicy snack, you should serve some refreshing drinks, especially on game day. The Blue Hawaiian Cocktail will be sure to cool your palette and a perfect Moscow Mule will go great with the zing of the chicken wing dip.

If you’re hosting more than a handful of guests, there is likely to be a vegan or vegetarian. Keep them happy with this unique Curry Sweet Potato Almond Butter Dip or Vegan Spinach Dip.
