PIN Dairy-free vegan chocolate truffles
Ultra-decadent, creamy bites of chocolate bliss with only 3 ingredients?
I’m here for it. You’re here for it. We’re all here for it.
February is a great time to be eating chocolate because it is the month of L-O-V-E. We have Valentine’s Day AND it also happens to be Mr. FFF and I’s anniversary, so chocolate? VRY VRY necessary.
Moral of the story: dairy-free vegan chocolate truffles are going to be a win for anyone in your life this year. No judgment if that person just so happens to be yourself.
Being your own Valentine: It’s going to be the best idea you’ve had all year.
Why You Will LOVE This Recipe
- Is there ever a month (or even a day) where chocolate is NOT necessary?
- Hair lookin’ funky? Chocolate. Kids bein’ crazy? Chocolate fixes that, too. Don’t know what to eat for dinner? Yep, you guessed it, chocolate will never let you down. I’m only sort of kidding about this one. Sort of.
- This dark chocolate truffle recipe is probably the easiest and most delicious thing you will make forever and ever the end. No lies.
- I don’t know who it was that figured that chocolate could be melted down with cream to make it even MORE luscious and smooth and creamy and DOWNRIGHT delicious but, if I ever meet them IRL, I would be their best friend. A person with ideas like that is doin’ life RIGHT and I want IN ON IT.
- Did I mention it is dairy-free, egg-free AND vegan?
are Vegan, Dairy-Free Chocolate Truffles healthy?
While I can’t say that these are good for you, they are a healthier alternative to other, traditional truffles. These don’t contain cream nor butter, they use natural sweeteners instead of refined sugars, and they use dark chocolate, which contains antioxidants and less sugar than its milk-chocolate counterpart (though, as I note below, you CAN substitute milk chocolate for the dark stuff if you want something sweeter).
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup full-fat canned coconut milk
- 2 tbsp agave
- 1 1/4 cups dark chocolate morsels (7 oz) (these are my favorites for baking!)
- cocoa powder, for rolling
Instructions
- Warm coconut milk (full fat!) in a pan over medium heat.
- Once it JUST starts to steam (don’t let it boil!) add in your chocolate chips, remove from the heat, and let it stand 30 seconds.
- Whisk, whisk, whisk until smooth and creamy!
- Pour into a bowl, cover the top with plastic wrap, and let is chill out for 2-4 hours until firm
- Roll into balls, roll into cocoa powder and EAT. Probably in one sitting, just warning you.
Presentation
If you are giving these truffles as a gift to friends or to your hubby (maybe for Valentine’s day?!) you’ll want them to look amazing! My tips for a luxurious feel with little effort:
- Place each truffle in its own dessert liner – it’ll avoid them from sticking together and, well, these heart-themed muffin cups are super cute!
- I used these heart-shaped tins which are super cute, functional and re-usable!
- Sprinkles, sprinkles, SPRINKLES!!!
FAQs
Certainly. In fact, honey is considered healthier than agave as honey contains mostly fructose, whereas agave contains glucose. You can keep the measurements the same if you use honey.
If you don’t like dark chocolate or you would prefer something sweeter, you can increase the amount of honey or agave, or replace the dark chocolate with semi-sweet chocolate.
I used Enjoy Life brand. Big fan.
How To Store Vegan, Dairy-Free Chocolate Truffles
These truffles — should you have any left — can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container out of direct sunlight (so, a pantry or cabinet would do nicely). You can also store them in the fridge, just let them come to room temperature before eating as the truffles will harden in the cold. For best results, eat them within 2-3 weeks.

- Pour the mixture into a small bowl and lay a piece of saran wrap right over top of the chocolate. This prevents a skin from forming on top. Refrigerate until the chocolate is set, about 2-3 hours.
- Once set, use a cookie scoop to from into balls and roll into cocoa powder (it’ll be a bit messy!)
