You knew it was only a matter of time.

We have re made classics like air fryer potato chips and air fryer falafel, and even air fryer coconut shrimp. It was only a matter of time until we got in on the nugget action.

Think of these like mini versions of the crispy breaded air fryer chicken breast but, honestly, they might be even CRISPIER.

So good for kids OR ADULTS, I promise.

Is the Air Fryer Really Healthy?

If you know me at all, you know I’m OBSESSED with my air fryer – I’m its number 1 fan and always will be.

Why, you ask? It’s SO easy to use, cooks food evenly and delivers crispy, hot meals with little effort. It’s ideal for last minute meals and parties with tasty appetizers. Another bonus- there is little to no cleanup!

Whether you are making Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs, Air Fryer Roasted Asian Broccoli or Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries to go with the chicken nuggets in air fryer I’m going to show you today, you’ll be hooked in no time! The air fryer cooks with significantly less oil than frying and deep frying, so it makes the food better for you, but it still tastes DELISH. It’s a healthier option that DELIVERS on flavor!

Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets Ingredients 

Something else that I love about my air fryer is that I can use few, simple ingredients that I have hanging out in my fridge, freezer and pantry and make them into something that tastes gourmet. These nuggets are so easy and you may already have the ingredients at home! YAY for less trips to the grocery store. Let’s round up the ingredients we need to make chicken nuggets air fryer:

  • Italian Seasoned Panko
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Egg
  • White Whole Wheat Flour
  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast

Why this is GREAT for weeknight dinners

A meal or snack that you can NEVER go wrong with is air fryer chicken nuggets! Everyone loves them, they are fantastic when you need to please kids or picky eaters, and they’re super easy to make! They are also healthy and better for you when you use the air fryer to cook them, as they don’t use any oil to fry! This is going to be your favorite of all air fryer chicken nuggets recipes and it’ll quickly become a go-to meal on those busy weeknights when you need something tasty and easy to feed the family!

How to make Homemade Chicken Nuggets Air Fryer

Preheat

Turn on the air fryer and allow it to preheat to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. 

Mix

Add the panko, cheese, paprika and salt to a bowl and mix it together thoroughly. Pour it onto a large rimmed plate. Whisk the egg in a bowl. Add the flour to a separate large rimmed plate.

Dredge

One by one, dredge the chicken in the flour, then egg, then carefully coat it with the panko mixture. Place the coated chicken pieces into the mesh basket of your air fryer. You may want to do this in batches so that the chicken isn’t overcrowded. 

Cook

Cook in the air fryer until the nuggets are perfectly crispy and golden brown. DEVOUR!

Serving Suggestions 


Cooking up a batch or 5 of these chicken nuggets in the air fryer is ALWAYS a good idea, but they’re even better when paired with some tasty sides! I recommend serving up some gluten free onion rings, or maybe some parsnip fries or even crispy baked sweet potato fries to finish things off!

Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets FAQ

How Long To Cook Chicken Nuggets In Air Fryer? 

Cooking them in an air fryer is simple: Set your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Simply take the battered nuggets and place them in the mesh basket of your air fryer with plenty of space in between each nugget. Let them cook until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees, which should take approximately 10-13 minutes.

To Dip Or Not To Dip? 

If you want to dunk these air fried chicken nuggets, I say go for it! There are literally endless ways you can spice them up with dips and sauces if you’re serving them at a party! I recommend ketchup, honey mustard dip from my Almond Crusted Chicken bites recipe, asian style dip from my Paleo Baked Nuggets, Sugar Free Low Carb BBQ Sauce, or sweet and sour sauce!

Can They Be Made Gluten Free?

If I’ve got you hooked and you are craving these delicious chicken nuggets, go ahead and whip up a batch! If  you’re following a gluten free diet, you can easily tweak the recipe to make these gluten free! Simply swap out the white whole wheat flour for gluten free flour and switch out the panko bread crumbs for gluten free panko and you’re good to go!

These air fryer chicken nuggets are so juicy, flavorful and crispy. I often like to eat them on their own because they’re just that good! If you want to dunk them, though, you totally can! Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets

Air Fryer Whole Chicken
Prep: 15 minutes minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Italian seasoned Panko (GF if needed)
  • 2 Tbsp Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 Large egg
  • 3 Tbsp White whole wheat flour (or GF cup for cup sub)
  • 1/2 Lb Boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into 1 inch cubes

Instructions

  • Pre heat your air fryer to 400 degrees.
  • Mix the the panko, cheese, paprika and salt and spread onto a large, rimmed plate. Then place the egg in a medium bowl and whisk it. Finally, place the flour into a medium, rimmed plate.
  • Take one of your chicken cubes and dredge it in the flour, followed by egg, shaking off any excess. Finally, cover it in the panko and place into the mesh basket of your air fryer. Repeat with all cubes.
  • Cook until golden brown and crispy and an instant read thermometer reads 165 degrees F, about 10-13 minutes.
  • DEVOUR!
