PIN Best womens devotionals
Hiya friends!
It’s been a LONG time since we’ve done a Sunday reflection! Mostly because I’m writing a book right now that is one BIG Sunday reflection and it has taken up a lot of Sunday reflection juice 🙂 BUT, they will return at some point!
However, I wanted to share some of the Bible studies for women that I have done in the past few months in my morning “Jesus Time” as I have found them really helpful. These are almost all daily devotional for women – with the exception of RightNow media, so I’m sorry men!
Most of the devotionals also deal with finding freedom and learning to see ourselves as God made us which, as you know, is something I have really struggled with and I think we all do to some extent, so these devotionals should be helpful for any women!
I would love to know if you have read any of them, or if you have any other devotionals/Womens Bible study books that you think I should read!
Me Myself and Lies
Concept: That our thoughts are kind of like our closets – what we think about it what we believe and sort of what we end up “wearing” on the outside.
Helpful lesson example: One day made us go through the negative labels we have for ourselves – worthless, ugly etc and then it had a whole list of verses with the labels God calls us. I was able to memorize and then call on them when I was being nasty and labeling myself
Proverbs 31 Study (Unfortunately not available anymore)
Concept: This verse in the Bible depicts the ideal women, which makes us feel that we will never measure up because she is perfect. But this study shows she isn’t perfect, she just has grace for herself and doesn’t let her mistakes get her down
Helpful lesson example: I learned the difference between excellence vs perfection, which I never really knew about before. I thought they were kind of the same thing. Excellence offers grace and self-compassion and perfection doesn’t
The Redefined Study
Concept: This study helps with redefining our identities. The world tells us we need to be beautiful, perfect, CEO’s etc and that isn’t our identity. Christ is our identity, so we are already beautiful, perfect and called without having to achieve all those things.
Identity is something I have really struggled with. Always the “fitness girl” or the “healthy eater” so it’s been huge in recovering from disordered eating to redefine my identity worth and value
Helpful lesson example: Moses said he didn’t think he could do what God called him to do because he was just a normal dude. But God answers with I am Who I am because it’s not about our identity. It’s about God’s. Since we his children we have his identity and that will always be enough for what he calls us to do
Breaking Free (my current study)
Concept: Its about breaking free from ANY kind of bondage that is holding you back from the life that God has for you. For me its body image and food issues.
Helpful lesson example: I learned a lot more about pride and how it plays into identity issues. We think that pride means someone who thinks they are better than everyone. But it can also be pride that we feel like we have the strength on our own to break free from bondage without god. It also says God hates pride but that doesn’t mean he wants us to feel bad about ourselves which spoke to me.
This study comes with DVD series that can be done in the group and it’s a pretty long one as it takes 10 weeks to do.
RightNow Media
I want to preface this by saying that I am pretty sure you need your church to sign up for it and then give access. It’s kinda of like a Netflix for Jesus followers. It has videos and books on many different topics (I use women) and then you can just go through and watch them. It’s nice to have devotionals right at your finger tips.
Favorite Series: “Faith over Fear” and “Free of Me” in the women’s section.
