Sunday Reflections - Thoughts on what God has been teaching me throughout the week | #Foodfaithfitness | #Faith #Christian #Bible Happy Sunday!

I’ve got my hubby back for the weekend, so it truly is a HAPPY one for me! ?

Today I want to talk about how we define ourselves (or how I define myself and maybe you do too!) and how we need to redefine that.

In Exodus 3, God appears to Moses in a burning bush and tells him to go to Pharaoh and ask him to let the people go.

And you know what Moses says? “Who am I to do this?”

LIKE, he is in FRONT of a burning bush with God talking to him and he immediately doubts that he is the right person for the job. He responds to the God of the universe with HIS own identity and abilities, not taking into account who he is talking to. He has a mini identity crisis.

God answers like this “I AM WHO I AM.”

God doesn’t validate Moses’ ability and identity to do the job, he confirms who HE is and that HE will be with Him, which gives Moses the same authority to do the job that God has.

How many times have we heard God calling us to do something – and it might not even be something HUGE like go on missions or something, but we answer with our own identities?

  • Who am I to do this?
  • That is way to scary for ME to do
  • I am totally not made to do something like that

ETC.

I know I am so guilty of this. I know God has something awesome planned for me, but the big things I need to do to get there are sometimes super scary and I feel like I just don’t have the strength or abilities to get there. Then I wait for some sort of sign from God that I DO have them.

But, that doesn’t matter. God is not going to validate my abilities because, truly, I don’t have them.

But, God does. And because He is who He is, we can redefine ourselves in Him.

If someone says “who is Taylor?” I can say “I AM WHO I AM.”

His sufficiencies cover my current insufficiencies, past mistakes and inabilities. It’s easier said than done, but I want to challenge you to redefine yourself along with me!

Enjoy your Sunday!
