  • Pineapple Salsa

Hosting a party nowadays usually requires chips and salsa. I can’t imagine having any get-together without a bowl of salsa available. Even without a large crowd, salsa can be a great snack or appetizer. Salsa has grown so much in popularity over the years that it comes in several varieties, each with its own unique taste. One of my personal favorites has become this recipe for pineapple salsa, which is a little sweeter than most salsas thanks to its combination of fruit and vegetables.

This recipe for pineapple salsa looks as good as it tastes. It features a lot of bright colors as opposed to the traditional dark red salsa. This salsa also does a great job of blending together various flavors. Obviously, pineapple is the main ingredient, which makes this salsa rather sweet. But there are also ingredients like peppers and red onions that temper the sweetness with spice and savoriness. little spicy and savory. The flavor profile is all over the map, but in the best way possible with a diverse array of tastes.

If you find yourself liking pineapple salsa, there are a few other salsa recipes I recommend you try. Of course, there is the classic pico de gallo salsa. I’m also a big fan of fresh mango salsa, as well as mango avocado salsa. Both of these salsas also provide a fruity sweetness.

Is Pineapple Salsa Healthy?

With pineapples as the main ingredient, this salsa recipe is incredibly healthy. Pineapples are rich in vitamin C, fiber, and other nutrients that benefit digestion, weight loss, and fighting inflammation. Pineapple salsa is also low in fat and sugar. Don’t forget that the red onion, bell pepper, and jalapeño in the recipe also provide plenty of vitamins and nutrients.

Balance Sweet and Spicy

Everybody has their own preferences when it comes to balancing the levels of sweetness and spiciness in salsa. If you want it to be a little extra spicy, consider adding an extra jalapeño or sprinkling in a few pepper flakes. On the other hand, if you prefer more sweetness, you can reduce the amount of jalapeño so the sweetness of the pineapple is more prevalent. I would also suggest adding a dash of honey if you want even more sweetness and flavor in the salsa.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups diced fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1 jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

FAQs & Tips

How to Make Ahead and Store?

For the best results, make pineapple salsa 24 hours in advance so the ingredients have more time to meld together in the fridge. In an airtight container, the salsa can stay in the fridge for 3 to 5 days.

How can I make pineapple salsa even better?

If you want to score points for presentation, cut chunks out of a fresh pineapple yourself and serve the salsa within the hollowed-out pineapple.

Serving Suggestions

Similar to most salsas, pineapple salsa goes well with tortilla chips. I would recommend making your own keto tortilla chips or air fryer tortilla chips. But pineapple salsa is a little more versatile than that. You can also serve as a side dish with low-carb fish taco bowls or a burrito bowl. It can also be a great way to complement juicy grilled chicken breast or cajun grilled cod.
