What has only 3 ingredients and is packed with muscle building protein?

If you guessed “this protein shake” well then you get a gold star because you are RIGHT.

This protein shake tastes like a milkshake form of my favorite strawberry protein mug cake and your taste buds will NOT believe it’s healthy.

I mean, waking up a bowl of protein oats is good and all but WHAT IF you could start the day with something that tasted like a milkshake instead?

I know, you’re all ears now.

Why you will LOVE This Recipe

I LOVE a good shake or smoothie. I mean, who could possibly say no to a fruity, creamy dreamy banana cashew flax seed smoothie or a chocolate protein shake? NOT ME! Today’s strawberries and cream protein shake is going to level up your smoothie game for so many reasons. First off, it’s made with healthy ingredients that you’ll feel good about fueling your body with. It’s also packed with protein which means it will taste great AND keep you full and energized until your next snack or meal. Last, but certainly not least, this smoothie is super easy to throw together, and everyone in your crew is going to love it- even the picky eater in your household. Say hello to an easy, on-the-go breakfast or snack for anytime of day that is absolutely delicious!

Are protein shakes good for you?

Yes! Protein shakes can add to your muscle mass, prevent muscle loss, and improve your performance and recovery when working out. Like everything, they need to be taken in moderation as they can be high in calories and sugar which can lead to weight gain and spiked sugar levels.

If you buy a pre-made one, make sure to check the label of the protein shake to ensure it is not too high in sugar. Try to get your protein through natural means as well. Like eggs, meat, fish, soy, and other plant-based products.

Ingredients Needed

When looking for a smoothie or shake recipe, I tend to lean towards choosing the ones with the most flavor and the best health benefits! Who knew that such a healthy and tasty smoothie only requires a few, simply ingredients to whip up? Well now you know! Here are the ingredients you will need to blend up a cool and creamy strawberry protein shake (you could even add in a banana for extra sweetness and creamy goodness to make a strawberry banana protein shake):

  • Halved Frozen Strawberries
  • Vanilla Protein Powder of choice
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • Sweetener (optional)

What Protein Powder to Use

Like many strawberry protein shake recipes, this one calls for vanilla protein powder and the choice of which one is totally up to you! I recommend using your go-to protein powder that is tried and true and that you know you will love. Any vanilla whey protein powder is usually a safe bet and will taste GREAT when blended up with the other ingredients in this shake recipe!

How to make a Healthy Strawberry Protein Shake

Blending up a creamy dreamy shake could not be easier! Once you have rounded up the ingredients you will need, it’s time to whip out that blender and get going on your strawberry shake! Here’s how:

Blend

Add all the ingredients to a high powered blender. Turn it on and blend at high speed until the shake is smooth.

Serve

Pour the finished shake into a glass and add a straw if you want! Serve it up and enjoy!

How much Protein does this Shake Have?

A smoothie with added protein is the PERFECT smoothie to keep you full on those busy mornings instead of leaving you with a rumbling stomach hours before lunch! Protein works wonders because it provides our bodies with energy to tackle whatever is in front of us while ALSO keeping us full so that we don’t need a million snacks on hand to make it until lunch or dinner! This protein shake has over 25g of protein, which will vary slightly depending on the type of protein powder you use to make it.

What fruit variations can you make?

The most common fruits that you find in protein smoothies are berries. They’re SO easy to buy nowadays, you will find them in any grocery store. They have high antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. You can use them fresh or frozen, just use what’s convenient for you.

The other common fruit you will see in protein shakes are bananas. These fruits are always available as well and are easy to find. Bananas provide potassium, fiber, protein and natural sugars. These are great if you want to build muscle when working out. You won’t have to mix in sweeteners as well to make your protein shake taste good.

Can you make Protein Shake ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare your shakes the night before. If you don’t have time during the morning and you’re going to be busy the whole day, you can store a protein shake for 24 to 48 hours in the fridge. But if you want maximum freshness and nutrition consume them within 24 hours. You can store them in tumblers with lids or mason jars that have covers.
