I don’t know about you but I fell in love with my Instant Pot in 2020.

I know you probably figured this out due to the fact that we had instant pot apple butter, instant pot mashed cauliflower and instant pot green beans all within a week.

I almost had to buy another one so I could get more work done on my picture taking days 🤣

It’s about time my two loves – potatoes and the Instant Pot come together, right?

I mean, why let the air fryer have all the carb-y fun with the air fryer sweet potato fries and air fryer roasted potatoes.

You understand.

Why you will LOVE cooking potatoes like this

Are you ever stuck in a rut on what to make for dinner? Or maybe you have some asparagus stuffed chicken breast cooked up and ready to go and need a quick and easy side dish to make it a meal? Today I’m going to show you how to boil potatoes instant pot and it’s going to become your new favorite way to cook them! It’s SO easy, SO much faster than doing it on your stovetop, and the result? Perfectly tender, fluffy on the inside boiled potatoes!

Ingredients needed

Have you ever come across a recipe that’s SO delicious, but looks WAY too complicated to make? Some recipes with longer ingredient lists can be so fun to tackle and enjoy, however sometimes all you need is a simple side dish to complete a meal. If that’s you, look no further! To make instant pot boiled potatoes, there is literally just one ingredient: potatoes! You’ll also need water, of course, but when it comes to recipes, there couldn’t be a simpler list of ingredients out there!

How to boil Potatoes in the Instant Pot

Prepare

Pour the water into your instant pot and place a trivet on top. Place the potatoes on top of the trivet, cover the instant pot with its lid, and set it to “sealing”.

Cook

Cook your potatoes on manual high pressure for 13 minutes until they’re done. Let the steam release naturally- don’t be tempted to hit the fast release button this time!

Serve

Serve up those tasty potatoes and DEVOUR!

Instant Pot Boiled Potatoes FAQ

What kind of potatoes should I use?

I recommend using red potatoes for this recipe, but you could also use yellow potatoes or russet potatoes and they should turn out great!

How long does it take to boil potatoes in a pot?

For whole potatoes cooked on the stovetop in a regular pot, it takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the potatoes. If you chop them up first, it cuts down on cook time a little bit.

Do I need a trivet?

For this boiled potatoes recipe, I strongly recommend using a trivet to place the potatoes on while they cook. If not, they will absorb a lot of the water in the pot, which you don’t want.

How long does it take to cook potatoes in the instant pot?

It takes only 13 minutes to boil potatoes in instant pot! It’s much faster than doing it on a stovetop and the result is the same!

Instant Pot Potatoes Serving Suggestions

Potatoes can be the perfect side dish for so many main dish recipes, because they are SO versatile and pair well with a variety of textures and flavors. Dress them up or eat them plain with a bit of butter and salt, and they’re a satisfying and filling addition to any meal! I recommend serving these potatoes alongside some everything bagel chicken or simple coffee rubbed steak, and finishing it off with some perfectly cooked sauteed green beans with crispy prosciutto.
